It was dark in the morning, br it was darker than night. br It was dark when the moon shone, br and it was dark when the sun shined, br even though it shined bright. br br The darkness it hid in those places unseen, br it hid in the shadows which were hiding in me. br It hid in the places that hide from the light, br it hid behind doors that were closed, br and keep all from our sight. br br That darkness had eyes that peered out, br with dark cloaked motives, br that carved up the wholesome br (into things that can bite) , br with the feel of our nightmares, br that cleave to the night. br br It was dark in the evening br as dusk settled and spread, br it was dark as I thought it br (as we do in our heads) . br But in the silence of dusk br that darkness had fled.
