The Poison Staff is a Hardmode magic weapon that fires 4 poison fangs that pierce multiple enemies. It is dropped by Black Recluses, which can only be found in or around Spider Nests. br br Each enemy is damaged once by a single burst, regardless of how many projectiles hit. The weapon fires similarly to a shotgun in that the path of each projectile originates from just ahead of the head of the staff, but they take different paths. The projectiles do slow down in water similar to arrows. The spread of the weapon seems to be roughly 45 degrees. It has a slow fire rate by default and drains mana as it is used. Each time projectiles are fired from the weapon 22 mana is drained. Unlike many slow-firing weapons, the fire button doesn't have to be pressed each time you want to cast and can be held down to continuously fire. br br The best modifier possible is Mythical. br br Notes: br This weapon is very good against worm-like enemies, such as Wyverns, The Destroyer, and The Eater of Worlds as its high attack damage and the fact that each projectile can pierce through multiple segments of the body will make short work of them. br br When used in conjunction with Shroomite armor, Shadow armor, Necro armor, Cobalt armor, Hallowed armor, or Ninja clothes the Poison Staff will have the afterimage effect too.
