David Abrahams - First Kiss

David Abrahams - First Kiss

I have yet to awake br From our first kiss - br Taken lingering at the threshold br Of your apartment door br And bliss. br br Touched lips spark static br And held slightly together br One hand in the small of your back br The other behind mine br Fingers crossed – br Not for an invite tonight br But a future. br br In that slight lip touch – br Plush lawns, bouncy balls br Diaper pails and trips to malls – br Schools - br Tears - br Hopes – br Fears – br And of course dreams of growing old together. br br We parted relieved to know br The feeling was mutual – br Buoyed on those dreams I floated br Down the hall. br Forsook the elevator and br Took the stairs by twos. br Out into the Salt Lake streets br And past my bike. br Had to take a lap around the block br to be safe to ride.
