Shamik Bose - # Traveller

PERHAPS one night this tranquil sleep may break br With profoundest sigh such dream be shattered with the jerk awake br br Around the ascent of nascent dawn br This hollowness inside may surely spawn br br I shall wake then, begin to walk, br My morning sun does not abandon dark br br To start from this city of joy in nigh on slumber, br Who knows what the journey for enjoyment be br br Alongside this lane, the loneliest roads I have crossed, br One by one, br I am bestowed by the tiniest of paths, br Its greeting is mine br br These fields of rice! These villages green! br Ah! All will be gone. br My heart travels lonely, unsung br br As I may cross so many a hill, ravine, and forest, br Yet mountains of snow are my only garment br br Until I reach the lake br May I? br To take a breath! br Such gratitude mine at its depth br So profound my feeling br br Then, and then only, shall I see what I am, br I may be lonely, yet then, only then, br Shall I start to fathom.
