down the rabbit hole br of childhood memories br we tumble into lost world br br watching Father chase white butterflies br which eat our growing cabbage leaves br with a tennis racket with foot work br br leaps bounds serves volleys never seen br upon famed centre court at Wimbledon br butterflies fly float move in fluttering br br unpredictable motion dances with gravity br overcome baiting my father into youthful br dances on past childhood hot summer days br br this game I too played mastered but why br so rarely in retrospect such fun so seldom br played among a host of unpattented games br br to up the stakes for mass extinction Derris br dust sprinkled on cabbage leaves discolours br leaves white butterflies land leave unabated br br but knocks out the sucking and chewing br insects for a six at caterpillar dinner time br when rain has not washed powder sprinkled br br off cabbage leaves alas it is a no-win game br set upon set waiting for new service white br butterflies as they fly in from neighbouring br br gardens the game goes on until we tire or br new balls spread danger word signaling with br broken garden bodies in game we can't win! br br br Copyright © Terence George Craddockbr br Terence George Craddock (Spectral Images and Images Of Light)br br
