Testimonies found on br An ancient palimpsest br Never recovered words br To be seen again br br Leftover from times gone by br What could they have indicated br Would they have given us br A way to live our lives nowadays br br Perhaps even held a shopping list br A note to get a child to an appointment br Maybe a love note to ones husband or wife br or ones mistress making a date br br One will never know br Perhaps sadly or maybe not br It could be a judgment on one that br Was stealthily moving in the darkness br br Pausing quietly to steal a br Kiss from some young woman br Walking home in the early evening br Looking back to see the beautiful reaction br br Would he be the one that br Had wondrous things to br Say to this generation br Would he have had the answers that we crave br br We will never know br The words that were smitten br To make room for important br More important stanzas in time br br Would it even be possible br To understand their ancient writings br Scrabbling's from what we are use to today br Or could they be sights wondrous to behold br br Take a page our of their palimpsest's br Reuse more than our throwaway br Is it easier to use than reuse br Faster to throw than keep br br Bless those of us that br Turn over and reuse br Take the trouble not to toss br And begin from scratch again br br What I want to know br Is what have we learned from br The people of old, why br They never just threw it all awaybr br Carlana Brownbr br
