Stillness called me here br where bitter stars are few. br From shadow to shadow br the night is yours. br Senses sharpen, br faint galaxies approach br attentive and glistening, br invisible wings beat overhead br across this darkening loch br as castle lights fall dim br and fell the walls of time br to give us this stage again br under spotlights br of endless possibility. br Or so we might have thought br had we been older, br for innocence is blind, br groping in vain for us now. br But in the embrace of your night br regret holds no dominion. br br The sweetest comfort reigns br in the aftermath of a love br woven not by chance br or by choice alone, br but for you and I to win or lose. br For nowhere is it written br that such and such must be. br And though moves may be forced br by history unfolding, br the end remains unknown br until it flies or falls. br br Yet even this parting and its taint br inflicted no defeat on memory, br no defeat on love. br In the beginning br it was the little things; br In the end br it was everything. br Losing it is beyond me now. br And here, br where something of us plays on, br by the light of the indefinable br by the flowing depths br of the unwitting wisdom br of this heretical universe br I am thankful.
