Sara Fielder - She'd Lie

Sara Fielder - She'd Lie

She'd lie br Without cause or reason br Don't ask me why br Every chance she got she'd lie br It was pitiful really br A small exaggeration first br Only to be magnified br And wound into an elegant fraud br To be like Them br I wouldn't get mad br I was simply bewildered br They say to tell the truth is easier br But too ordinary for her I suppose br Not grand enough and so br The People wore clothes by Ralph Lauren br And all of their children went to Penn br And she'd rubbed elbows br With Who, What, Where, and When br Some names were dropped to emphasis this point br So that you'd know she was the square peg br In the square hole br Except she'd lie br Did it really matter what car they drived? br Or that they lived in Century Heights? br The longer I'd listen the sadder I became br For I could see she'd told so many lies br In her mind she'd become who she wanted to be br Forget that these were made up tales she told br And that she'd really grown up in br A house with rat holes br And if that were not sad enough br She did not know I was looking down on her br Instead of up br br br Written by Sara Fielder © 2011 br br NOTE: This poem was written about my mother.
