George Bernard Hough - Man`s Best Friend

George Bernard Hough - Man`s Best Friend

You came into our lives bringing love and trust, br your` affection had no strings. br We played together walked together slept together, br The faith you had in us reserved for kings. br br You guarded our belongings and home. br You welcomed us when we had been away. br We know that you would have defended us br with your` life if needed one day. br br We grew older together helped each other in sickness, br our lives slowing down together, br our walks getting fewer and fewer, br not always because of the weather. br br Your` sight became dim till finally lost, br you were so clever you managed to cope, br could picture a scene avoiding the bumps, br a message to all who had given up hope. br br Your` hearing was next in the ageing process br so sad to see you confused. br Deciding where the sound had come from br left you a little bemused. br br Sadly we lost you a few weeks ago br since then our lives aren`t the same. br Your` bed it lies empty your` no longer here br tears well at the sound of your` name. br br We`ll never forget you, though only a dog, br you affected our lives come what may. br The house seems so empty now you are gone. br You filled it with fun every day.
