Donal Mahoney - Songwriter's Nightmare

Donal Mahoney - Songwriter's Nightmare

Where did it go? br I really don't know. br I lost it weeks ago br in the middle of the night. br Too tired to get up. br Said I'd take care of it br first thing in the morning. br Didn't want to wake the wife. br Now it's lost in the ether br with some others, gone forever. br They never come back. br br I feel like the blind man br in the yard next door br trying to find the red ball br his guide dog failed to fetch. br How does he know it was red? br Or the lothario memorialized br in the paper this morning br for crawling out the window br when his lover's husband br caught an early plane home. br Left his pants and wallet behind. br br Some things never come back, br sometimes for the better br but not this time. br The next time I wake up br in the middle of the night br and hear the band playing br a new song in my head br I'll get up, believe me, br and write everything down. br It might be another br 'Moonlight in Vermont.
