“These words, these words” ring out in my mind. br I used to hear it all the time. br Hurtful things people say, never seem to go away. br I remember this one time, all the pain is blocked out in my mind. br Someone walked up to me and said, br “Hey nigger, get out of here or you’re dead.” br I wasn’t frightened by him alone, I was more afraid of how his heart was made of stone. br br He never cared about how I might feel, or how all the things that word could take from me! But I looked him in the eye and I held my head up high and said, “What’s your reason why, haven’t done anything to you! ” Have I done anything you might misconstrue? br br He couldn’t look me in the eye, because he had no rhyme or reason why. br So all of you out there if you ever want people to seem to care, then I say to you the use of the word “nigger” must be taught. br As we reach out to our fellow man all our misconceptions must be banned. br Keep it simple to understand I am, I am.
