I packed my ham sandwiches, I packed my flask of tea, br What a wondrous day it was going to be! br My boyfriend had bought me a ticket for a coach - tour of the M25! br Oh, it made me ecstatic, just to be alive! br However, as the hours went by, br I cannot lie, br I grew sick of cars, lorries and motorbikes, br I wish my boyfriend and I had gone one of our legendary Cumbrian hikes. br I still see him now and then, when I can drag him away from the hard shoulder, br Oh, I hope I find someone else before I get older! br 'This poem was inspired by a newspaper article I read about a coach - tour of the M25 motorway and a woman whose boyfriend bought her a ticket for the coach - tour. For those of you who are non - UK residents - a 'hard shoulder' is a part of the motorway.
