jim hogg - The visit

I must photograph your gums br I’m sure I heard him say, br with a hundred million pixels br of the latest insight into br the tissue of a universe in decay. br Remember the selves we used to be - br he might have said; I might have dreamt – br white and upright, sharp as purpose, br I believe they may be clearly seen br in the stars of your mouth; br and the selves we hadn’t become br yet - I wonder about them sometimes, br estranged so far from that unitary br system we inhabited, in some other time - br which never knew alien sugar traps, br nebulae of conspicuous addiction br or orbiting temptations of various br galaxies that would swallow our lives, br or sly, unpoetic mishaps we’d have br to avoid like cavities! Looking now br into his images I imagine Higgs br Boson particulae lurking, br colliding perhaps with illusion br in deep darkness at the root br of a tooth fixed in the jaw of br a history of crushing matter br that won’t be denied - a future br that bites back br but keeps on breaking down br the elements of Newton’s notions, br under photons from even the moon, br tiring, but busy at this moment, br dragging long compulsive slicks br of saliva into inconclusive entropy br where “mouth” is an empty concept, br drilled out bit by infinite bit.
