Mark Heathcote - For every love that’s born there is a cry

For every birth there is a cry br For every dream there is a wave br That recedes on a worn out lie br br For every figurative metaphor br There is a simile of you on my mind br For every rueful discrepancy br br There is a sordid singing in the sky br Oh just to fly a little higher, higher br Than; an unanswered question - asking why. br br Oh I’ll never learn my lesson… br You’ll just have to embalm my will br In your falling gravity and embrace me again… br br Until I’m also bound in these covers of war and peace br With a broken spine ripped at the seams br Hell I’m going to dream, I’m not going to cry br br Till even these ephemeral wings can’t fly br I’m going to sink and swim br In every cloud on every seraphim wave until I die br br For every figurative metaphor br There isn’t a simile for you in a funfair mirror br For every rueful discrepancy there is an image br br That I just want to drown in without you br Under every wave for however long time goes on… br I just want to bob-on the waves with you br br …On and on, on and on… and on…! br br Because for every love that’s born there is a cry br For every dream there is a wave br That recedes on a worn out lie.
