Carlton Carr - Gay Poem: His Face Rains Petals

Carlton Carr - Gay Poem: His Face Rains Petals

You ran your scarlet nails br Across my back br As his face rose up before me br The cheap Indian earrings br That I had bought you br At the flea market stall br Crawled across my chest br And I let it happen br As his face grew clearer br br For more than forty years br I've lived within br This sacred dream of you br With your jet black hair dishevelled br And your blouse unbuttoned br And his face blossoming br I always blamed myself br But now I think it's time br To finally blame you br br I was still a child br At sweet sixteen br And you two decades older br I had no way of knowing br That the seed I sowed br By loving you br Would never cease it's growing br br You doused the dying embers br Of my smouldering youth br You stole my dreams of innocense br You told me lies br And upon this cross of tears br I sacrificed those wasted years br With his face flowering before me br I married you br br Ten years have passed br Since your breathing ceased br And still I battle br With your cold ghost br I left you but did not realize br That you would never let me be br Innocent and free again br With his face raining petals br Around mebr br Carlton Carrbr br
