Francis Duggan - The Watchdogs Of The People

I find their guns offensive from their holsters sticking out br And I don't feel any safer when I see them about br Supposed to be the peoples 'Watchdogs' but one must ask where are they br When people are robbed and murdered and that's happening every day? . br br For daring to criticize them I'll be seen as one of the damned br But I truly believe from society all firearms ought be banned br For far too many mentally ill people under police gun fire have died br And too few of them for murder or manslaughter have been tried. br br When women are raped and assaulted and that's happening every day br The Watchdogs of the people from them seem far away br And when they arrive it's often too late as the offender has long gone br And despite their guns and wide ranging powers serious crime br still living on. br br I am not a cop hater as they have never harmed me br But with their rights to bear arms I never could agree br For when the Government issue them with guns to shoot they give the right br And yet the town not any safer for to walk around at night. br br They walk around in public and their guns on display br But I would ban all firearms that's if I had my way br For guns are dangerous weapons and they cause death and tears br And the police not winning their war on crime though they've carried guns for years.
