Red beacon can only be used by high dignitaries holding constitutional posts while on duty, this is what the Supreme Court ordered to put an end to its misuse by politicians and bureaucrats flaunting it as a status symbol. But, in Gujarat, Bureaucrats obsessed with red and yellow beacons have continued using it ignoring Supreme Court's order.
