They are protesting against what they see as the General Staff's lack of action in relieving the fighters, who remain trapped and stranded in and around the eastern Ukrainian city. br br The protesters blocked the capital's Vozduhoflotskiy Avenue and called for the resignation of Ukrainian Defence Minister Valeriy Geletey. br br Militiamen of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DNRDPR) took control of Ilovaysk Wednesday, reportedly forcing Kiev forces to retreat from the area. The DNRDPR press service says all fighting in the vicinity of the town has finished and the situation has stabilised.
