There is a town in Brazil that needs some men to even things out. Noiva do Cordeiro, located in the southeastern part of the country is reportedly comprised of mostly female residents aged between 20 and 35.

It’s a small town, boasting a population count of 600. Most of the women living there seem to be single. Typically men are sent away at the age of 18 and the few husbands that call it home are only with their wives on the weekends.

One local, frustrated woman, 23-year-old Nelma Fernandes commented “Here, the only men we single girls meet are either married or related to us, everyone is a cousin. I haven’t kissed a man for a long time.”

Fernandes went on to say that she, like every other girl in town, dreams of getting married, but doesn’t want to have to leave home to find a hubby. The town was founded by, as you might be able to guess, a woman in the late 1800s.

She was labeled an adulterer and over time, other females who had been beaten down by society joined her. For now, the women are left hoping some guys will even out the population as long as they follow the town rules, but in the meantime they have plenty of same-sex companions to commiserate with.
