There have even been theories that Ryo is Akira and Shenmue is a prequel to the Virtua Fighter storyline.br br Ryo is featured as a playable character in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, riding his trademark motorcycle from Shenmue. When Ryo executes his “all-star move”, the motorcycle transforms into an unstoppable forklift.br br As of 2014, lead designer of Shenmue, Yu Hazuki, has continued to research ways to revive the long-dormant franchise, including attempts to develop a Shenmue MMO in the mid 2000’s and looking into crowd-sourced funding for Shenmue III via KickStarter.
