Kerry opens Climate Week NYC with new initiative

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)br br U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry opened NYC Climate Week with a speech at the Morgan Library in New York City on Monday (September 22).br br NYC Climate Week seeks to draw attention to carbon emissions and their link to global warming. It comes ahead of a Sept. 23 United Nations Climate Summit.br br During his remarks, Kerry announced a U.S. plan to fund a new World Bank program to decrease methane.br br "I'm pleased to announce today that the United States will be contributing $15 million (USD) to kick start the World Bank's new pilot auction facility. This initiative will set up a guaranteed price for each ton of methane that project developers are able to cut from their facilities," Kerry said. "This is especially important for those of you, and I assume that's everybody here, that follows this closely, methane is 20 times more dangerous and damaging than carbon dioxide.
