Three more jets join French military operation against Islamic State

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)br br STORY: French military on Monday (October 6) released video showing three Rafale fighter jets taking off from the military base of Saint-Dizier to join the U.S.-led coalition in air strikes on Islamic State insurgents in Iraq.br br The jets took off on Sunday, the French military said, and were part of a reinforcement announced by French President Hollande on October 1 which would also include an anti-aircraft warship.br br France now has nine fighter jets, an Atlantique 2 maritime patrol aircraft and a refueling plane at its base in the United Arab Emirates as part of its "Chammal" Iraq mission.br br France was the first country to join the U.S.-led coalition against I.S., who have also taken control of large parts of neighboring Syria during the course of the three-year-old civil war there.br br It has carried out just two air strikes in Iraq since launching operations in mid-September.
