Umbrellas decorate Hong Kong streets, marking revolution

Umbrellas are now being used artfully on the streets of Hong Kong.

Protesters once used these to shield themselves from pepper spray and tear gas... and they've since become a symbol of the pro-democracy movement taking shape in Hong Kong.

But dark skies have rolled in again, with Hong Kong's government calling off talks with protesting students.

Hong Kong Chief Secretary, Carrie Lam:

(SOUNDBITE) (English) HONG KONG CHIEF SECRETARY CARRIE LAM, SAYING:

"I truly regret that we will not be able to have a meeting tomorrow which will produce any constructive outcome."

Protesters are fighting the government for full democracy... demanding free elections in coming years, and calling for Hong Kong's leader to resign.

And for some who believe in the "Umbrella Revolution," music has become a way to get their message across.
