Less than 2 days before runoff presidential elections, Brazil's largely right-wing media made eleventh-hour attempts to intervene in the electoral process by means of defaming incumbent President Dilma Rousseff of the left-wing Workers' Party. Nonetheless, Rousseff continues to maintain a notable lead over opposition leader Aecio Neves.
