Poem 30, Lady Luck's Been A-Visiting. br ~ br I’m lucky that br Death doesn’t surround me br Everywhere I turn br Like it might’ve in Auschwitz. br br I’m lucky that br I am free to be who I am br Proud of my nationality, br Friends, and religion. br br I’m lucky that br I’m safe from wars, br Worrying about relatives br Dying on the battlefields br Or of starvation, or of exhaustion. br br I’m lucky that br The problems are less br The homelessness, poverty, pain, br Has decreased now. br br I’m lucky that br I live in a world br Where everyone, br Regardless of sex, age, br Nationality, religion br Can be free.
