Poet Dragon - Praecaveo Lectoris (Reader, Beware)

We watch the fireflies flicker br dim and dangerous in the darkness br and dream of stars above so bright br that they outshine the moon br br We laugh at water rushing in around us br as we sink, sink, sink br and drown eventually br in our fears and even our hope br br We shape the heavens in our dreams, br wondering at the impossibilities br and glitter at the clouds, br and dance for the stars and sing for the lost br br We look at one another, br laughing, grinning, joking, enjoying...open our eyes br and gasp at the mirror before us br throwing back nightmares and fear br br It is not the predator that hunts us, br that lingers in the afterglow, waiting br It is not the shadows that plot against us, br waiting for us to blow out the light br br It is the crushing feeling in our chest br that leaves us empty, choking, wanting, br It is the flash of heat in our back br that paralyzes us and chains our tears br br and smiles silver in the moonlight... br pushing us deeper into the night br where the sounds whisper in our ear to let it go... br to let the chance pass br br We take ourselves home for the day br and rush, rush, rush to arrive br and search the tube for meaning br and think dark thoughts... br br Until the scent, so common now, br wakes us up to eat and drink and laugh...
