Irene C S ClarkHogg - Journeys

He speaks of traveling in far distant lands br Of cities fair, adjacent to the sea; br Exotic gifts purchased there. So, for me, br Fine silks and spices placed within my hands. br Too soon, companions share his latest plans. br From boredom with this life he’ll surely flee, br As cruel fate repeats my history; br Bereft, left only with our wedding bands. br Alone, to wait once more for his return, br Many fearing that I must envy him. br They are but fools, attempting to be kind, br Thinking that for blue oceans deep I yearn. br For I can travel whole new worlds at whim, br Across the universe within my mind.
