I saw a broken windmill br It is so sad, you know, to see br It did its job all its life br Now it crumbles painfully br br The wind no longer whirls br Amongst its broken blades br The beauty is now lost somehow br The charm too seems to fade br br As I look across the open field br The cattle grazing the day away br I see the broken windmill br Trying desperately to sway br br Its pieces so pathetically br Hang and droop and bang br The wind seems to avoid it where br A sweet melody once sang br br How sad it is, don’t you think? br Perhaps the farmer one day br Will repair it and make it whole br Of he might possibly take it away!br br Marilyn Lottbr br
