leonard daranjo - Melodically Speaking - a humble tribute to Charlie Parker - a legendary Jazz Saxophonist

Shot out of space br Like a blazing comet br You impacted the planet br Leaving behind br A giant crater br You took and still do br Take us br On frantic excursions br Through the labyrinth br Of your enigmatic and powerful mind br You offered your soul up br Like a bouquet of variegated flowers br So that br Kindred spirits br Could nestle in and wallow among br The fragrant petals br Where were you br Before you arrived br Did you walk among the stars br Did you befriend the planets br Did you first hear those notes in space br Because, when you revealed your repertoire, br People were stunned into silence br They had never heard anything like it before br Now everyone who traverses that path br Cant help but sound like you br Your exit was as tumultuous as your entrance br Your life, though brief, br Was rewardingly productive br You left us br With a message in our hearts br A tear in our eyes br And a smile on our lips br The world silently awaits br For another of your kind br No one has turned up so far br And perhaps no one br Ever will br br br Written while listening to a track entitled “I didn’t know what time it was” by this incredible musician who has long since passed on.
