Dawn Slanker - Nurtured By Nature (a retourne)

Dawn Slanker - Nurtured By Nature (a retourne)

The retourne is all about repetition. It contains four quatrains and each line has eight syllables. The trick is that the first stanza's second line must also be the second stanza's first line, the first stanza's third line is the third stanza's first, and the first stanza's fourth line is the fourth stanza's first. Retournes do not have to rhyme. br br Nurtured by Nature br br Contemplate the earth around you br What wonders can your eyes behold? br Perhaps a flowers fragrant blooms br And insects deep within the soil. br br What wonders can your eyes behold? br The gift of life you'll often see br Living within the fertile land br Nurturing all of human kind. br br Perhaps a flowers fragrant blooms br Can ease the fear of darkened skies br Ensuring growth through tempest dower. br Providing nature's guests, a gift. br br And insects deep within the soil br Must mend and till the earth anew br They give what other creatures take br Assuring life will never end.
