David Harris - Golden Waves

David Harris - Golden Waves

As I languished on the sandy beach br in the summer of my youth, br a pretty maiden there beside me br watching the sparkling waves br turned golden by the sun. br What future dreams I had br of a life together as one br I cannot tell. br Time has robbed me of that memory, br all I know is if I had a dream br it was tarnished without repair. br Our lives together would never be br our worlds we would never share, br for as the summer faded br our love would soon be gone. br Her words imprinted forever br on my memory. br “I love you and don’t want to hurt you br so I am packing you up.” br Then walked away leaving me br with questions I could not answer br and memories of those golden waves br under a warm summer sun. br More years have passed br than I care to remember br and she is now a faded memory, br but her last words br still torment and haunt me.
