John Calvin Cochrane - Raven Spirit

Raven Spirit br br Born unto this life, br Winter turned into Spring, br as morning sun br grasped at melted br window panes in br my young eyes. br br Venturing out br into the brisk fresh br colorful display br of nature’s floral br mosaic, I inhaled br the fresh breath of br new air. br br The early snow-capped br mountains shone br through the clouds, as br the Raven cried out br of his nest, and gave br my spirit a name. br br I drearily walked br Into a dream, br A wicker chair br where upon I sat br beside a stream. br To wrestle with wait, br as to make br strong anxiety abate. br br Then a glorious light br took over me, br and led my staff. br Fear thus my dream, br brought me along br such a path. br br For within a state, br whereas to br ponder my fate, br when a Raven br came to stand aloft, br atop a br wrought iron br gate. br br With deepest glare br In his eyes, br much like that of slate. br Gave more the meaning, br with which my life br did equate. br br For within he grasped br the sum of my life, br in the thoughts br of my mind, br for it’s just then br that he rendered br me blind. br br For whom the br Creator that br once gave me br birth. br Hence had sent br a Raven br to strip me br this worth.. br br Instantly, my mind blank, br as half-spirit, I now sank, br my heart awash br like rock in a stream, br a child once br lost again in br a nightmarish dream. br br Taken away back br from whence I br had came? br Once lucid, now br insane, br Before death's br door I stand again.
