Isaac Newton br br For years he fished in the nearby lake, br but the fish would never take his bait. br So he baited his hook with crusty-bread, br but even that didn’t turn their head. br br He changed the bait to a lump of cheese br and thought this would tempt and tease, br but alas no bites from dusk till dawn, br so he changed the bait to boiled corn. br br With no success with boiled wheat br Newton would not accept defeat. br So he put a juicy worm upon the hook, br but even this got no second look. br br He cast aside his tackle and thoughts of fish, br and became a mathematician and physicist. br One sunny morning beneath an apple tree br he sat reading a book of philosophy. br br From the lake a fish leaped high above his head, br but an apple fell down and hit him instead. br He looked up for the fish and it fell onto his lap, br so he ate the apple and put the fish back.
