John Carter Brown - Nodding Off

John Carter Brown - Nodding Off

I sit enveloped in my chair, br My limbs relaxed, my work is done; br The radio is droning low, br My eyes are heavy as a ton. br I know the room is occupied, br But sorting voices is a strain; br A ghostly figure passes by, br I think I'm nodding off again. br br I'm wavering between two worlds, br One cold and clear, the other warm br And filled with floating images, br Devoid of bone or flesh or form. br I sense a slowly sliding movement, br Hear again that far refrain; br My head falls from it's finger perch br Because I'm nodding off again. br br My body is superfluous, br And all control I had is lost; br Opposing me, a mental bridge, br Before I know it I have crossed br Into another world, quite real, br With time a useless thing to keep; br I've left behind all earthly ties, br I've lost the fight and gone to sleep.
