When I was idealistic and young, br I was Dr. Faustus: br ready to love any beauty for while, br willing to risk heaven for the mysteries of the world, br determined to rule it rough, br saying, 'All this is mine! ' br br No bespectacled gaze could fathom my heart br that welled up with truth and certainty; br no power ruled that could ever curb br my natural spontaneity. br I walked like a lord who could change the world br with a snap of the finger of my will. br br Although truth has eluded my grasp ever since, br certainty is a legend I still love; br Dr. Faustus too is alive and well br with no pit below nor a heaven above. br Only the magic of his days is gone. br as he pours over himself stubbornly alone.
