Mark Heathcote - Longer Than Any Indian Summer

Mark Heathcote - Longer Than Any Indian Summer

Frozen ground is all around me br I want spring to come soon… br And show me who I really am. br br When flower tongues festoon br Grow and cover me above br Intern me even as I go, below. br br I want to feel the winds warmth br When rains fall in the summer br And the tarmacs shimmer. br br This is how I’ll know, I’ll also br Live forever with hope br In a dream that goes on forever. br br Heart beats heavy as a skein br Of geese looking for hemispheres br Beyond what we all call our sun. br br And when this melting’s begun br I’ll pray the summer is a summer br Longer than any other summer. br br Longer than all the stars numbered br Counted together - next one another br Longer than any Indian summer.
