Thomas Vaughan Jones - The Dance of the Little People

Thomas Vaughan Jones - The Dance of the Little People

There’s going to be a party, br we’ve made a fairy ring, br to celebrate the birthday br of Finn, the fairy king. br br His majesty announced it br for everyone to hear. br I’m making the arrangements br while Murphy brings the beer. br br I’ve invited cousin Michael, br Himself from Donegal, br the scrawny Sean McCafferty br and Padraic Mor McCall. br br The Queen of Connemara br has promised she’ll be there, br wearing her best tiara br and moonlight in her hair. br br Mick Doyle will play his fiddle br while Connelly calls the tune. br We’ll dance a fairy two step br beneath a fairy moon. br br And any mortal, passing by br will never hear a sound, br for deaf the ear and blind the eye br when fairy folk abound. br br Each tiny elf and fairy, br each magic Leprechaun, br will dance the dance of angels br until the break of dawn. br br Then, when the evenings over; br Before the brand new day, br the toadstools and the clover br must all be put away. br br Though Humankind may look askance br upon our fairy ring, br they’ll never know we held a dance br in honour of our king.
