Winifred Emma May - Woodland Cathedral

Winifred Emma May - Woodland Cathedral

Go into the woodland br if you seek peace of mind- br As this time when Nature's mood br is gentle, quiet and kind, br When soft winds fan the trembling leaves br about the cloistered glade- br And paths go winding deep into the green br and breathless shade. br br Where nothing breaks the silence br of the warm and fragrant air- br But snatches of sweet melody . . . br and wings that rend and tear- br The stillness of the windless dells br where shallow brooklets flow- br And shadows fleck the water br as the sunbeams come and go. br br An unseen Presence walks the woods, br a sense of holy things- br Haunts the dim Cathedral aisles; br and every bird that sings- br Is like some morning chorister, br and every breath of air- br Seems to bring the secret murmur br of a whispered prayer.
