Muhammad Shanazar - A Spectacle In The Twin Cities

In front of the Savours br Was placed a trash container br By the municipality, br The people came and went back br After having delicious meals br And some carried the shopping bags, br Well-packed packages of biryani, br Hustle bustle at the place revealed br We are a nation br As if born only to eat zesty meals br And have nothing worth-valuing to do br But fill the gluttonous belly br There across around the trash container, br Gathered well costumed women br And well-dressed children of the vicinity, br With wrapper and shopping bags br They were busy in sorting out br The remains of rice and half eaten bones br Of chicken legs and wings, br It was abominable to see them br Collecting the contents for their lunch, br Out of trash-container of the municipality, br They had pleasing appearances which meant, br They just had fallen below the poverty-line. br br I don't narrate the aftermath br Or post-war conditions of the world war 1st or 2nd br Or consequence of the war fought against terrorism, br Or a state of far flung slums of the country br But a spectacle in the twin cities, br Of a street quite adjacent to the Murree Road, br Where a road over a road is being constructed, br With the cost of forty and five billions.
