Edgar Albert Guest - A Prayer

Edgar Albert Guest - A Prayer

God grant me kindly thought br And patience through the day, br And in the things I've wrought br Let no man living say br That hate's grim mark has stained br What little joy I've gained. br br God keep my nature sweet, br Teach me to bear a blow, br Disaster and defeat, br And no resentment show. br If failure must be mine br Sustain this soul of mine. br br God grant me strength to face br Undaunted day or night; br To stoop to no disgrace br To win my little fight; br Let me be, when it is o'er, br As manly as before.
