DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK - A Man Recalled

A Man Recalled br - - - - - - - - - - - br When I looked back br Some events of yesteryears br Promptly act as mnemonics br I wrestle not, nor tease my reason br To recall that man nostalgic br It comes easy and so easy br That time seems amnesic br Of its own time sensitivity br And as if from that old position br It has shrunk not, nor stretched a bit br br Hence my memory clasped it br Not far away and not short ago br A man I chanced to meet br In an old-structured building br That housed many offices with many a logo br And the building wore a pallid looking br Crown, cornice and eaves, weary of time br Seemed not in vitality to stay still br Hence crumbling slowly and softly br Forsaking the antiquity wistfully br br Yet as usual businesses there went on well br The man I met was well past his noon br And the autumn was yet to set in br He was not good looking nor yet ugly br Tall, slender and his eyes looking shiny br His work was his monument br When asked to get a work done br Cast down his eyes demurely br To give greater effect to his work and said done br Subjected to self-mortification br br He got lost in his work only br Over a cup of tea and ill-cut bread and butter filled br Over hours together settled in a corner lonely br He was a work-maniac or rather workaholic br His associates were right seemingly br Years slipped by br Flowers bloomed and withered br Seasons came stealing on br And well past him unknown br A lovely rhyme his baby rhymed br br Whether had solaced him unknown br And the baby at his knee br Whence transformed to a man unknown br Work work work br He got lost in his work br Forgetting to redeem time br For moments of joy and mercy, br Love and prayer br And now he is no more br Leaving behind a legacy of work br As worship for all to think over………br br DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAKbr br
