George Egba - Ex convict

Declared acquitted br To taste freedom after twenty years br Only to arrive to party with the departed br The ex convict barely bear br Nothing he was out of jail br But still had in him the chains br Still feel the guilt the sail br And other inmate some guiltless claim br Sleepless night contaminated air br Years of agonizing suffering br From the first moment first day was unfair br Freedom came he never saw it coming br Now and even more had to bear br Tedious to compare with prison pain br Less worthy of trust less of care br Prison aid more convenient to the brain br Sharing love was simple br Prison life garbage prison home br The language which the brothers gave br Those brothers beloved and brave br More worthy than prison slaves br Prison celebration prison respect br Brothers from the first day of twenty years br Nothing outside prison was perfect br Tears were necked and fears br Life outside was prison grave br He return to find his siblings were adults br His mother stood there face wet with tears br Bowed with years waiting alone father was gone br All were vain glory standing against him br The party meant for him wasn't enough br What a life prison changebr br George Egbabr br
