Akhtar Jawad - An Unsent Wish

Akhtar Jawad - An Unsent Wish

I remember the flowers, br We plucked from the gardens, br I remember butterflies, br We jointly collected, br I remember the festivals, br We celebrated and enjoyed, br I remember the songs, br We listened to on the radio, br I remember the games, br We played in the streets, br I remember the rivers, br That met like lovers, br I remember the school, br We studied whereat, br I remember the showers, br We jointly enjoyed. br br And I remember the girl, br We watched every day, br In the morning to school, br In afternoon back to home, br Every day when she passed, br From the road we stood at, br We commented with a sigh, br The colors have gone, br The fragrance has gone, br And left behind, br A thirst to see again, br What a joint love affair! br br And I still remember, br We liked her so much, br Yes, we loved her jointly, br She was a piece of beauty, br Not sexy at all, br A model of innocence, br A divine lovely charm, br I don't know what, br There was something in her, br That was holy and pious. br br Years have now passed, br I left that place, br However for a few years, br We exchanged the letters, br Then a tragedy of hate, br Resulting in a war, br Increased the distances, br And correspondence was over.
