David McLansky - Ophelia to Hamlet

David McLansky - Ophelia to Hamlet

Ophelia br br br Indeed, My Lord, br Yet you answer with intense dispatch, br One minute merry br And resolute, br The next withdrawn br Denying pursuit. br Do you study hard br To be so perverse br Your pregnant answers br Seem rehearsed. br Is it your intention br To repute your oaths, br Being so contrary, br Well, though I'm loath, br I'll return your promises br With no interest paid, br Like a borrowed garment br Just slightly frayed. br br Again this rage br And comdemnation, ! br Would you fault a knave br An entire nation? br These exaggerated airs br These dramatic poses, br This intense despair, br These thorny roses. br You never loved? br You made me so believe br When I embraced your love br You seemed relieved; br Now this denial br This swift recall, br Now you insist br I never loved at all! br Though I am young, br An unskilled maid, br These games ill-played, br Echoed in this hall, br Make me think you are mad, br Oh, how you rave. br You foam, you spit, br What words you splatter, br In passion's fit br Oh what is the matter? br Your bonds in me br I do release; br Oh, let me go br To live in peace.
