Without the preparation of a deep conditioning product, your hair will have a difficult time withstand your heat usage even if you are using a safe temperature on your hair. If you need help figuring out which deep conditioners and protein products are best for your hair, refer to my book The Black Hair Manual. br br The Black Hair Manual: A Pocket Guide For Choosing Your Best Hair Products br br #2 Never go over 350 degrees to prevent heat damage br br Going over 350 degrees encourages the possibility of heat damaged hair even though you have prepared your hair with a deep conditioning treatment and applied a protein products to prepare your hair. When using natural oils to serve as a heat protectant, you have to make sure that you are not using high heat or frequent heat usage because these oils will not provide enough protection in this case. Below are a list of suggested natural oils for infrequent heat usage. br br Virgin Cold Pressed Grapeseed Oil (most preferred) br Virgin Cold Pressed Olive Oil br Virgin Cold Pressed Argan Oil br br #4Use a silicone heat protectant for infrequent usage br br Using silicones get a bad rap within the natural hair community because they aren't easily removed unless you use a deep cleansing shampoo to remove these kinds of silicones. Silicones that are no water soluble offer the greatest level of protection from heat damage but using them often results in chronic breakage and product buildup because these silicones are pretty resistant to water. These are to be used sparingly and with your best interests in mind. br br br Thanks For Watching! br br DISCLAIMER: All suggestions, tips, prizes, techniques and advice given are for informational purposes only and should be used at your discretion and best judgment.
