‘I begged you not to go to the lake br For I knew that he'd be there, br Whenever we'd go to the lake before br He would come out, sit and stare, br He lived in a cabin, made of wood, br Was a woodsman, through and through, br But the hairs rose up on the back of my neck br Each time that he stared at you.' br br ‘You wore that little bikini top br And the g-string pulled up tight, br I said that you'd catch your death out there, br It was cold, and nearly night, br But I saw you bridle at every glance br As he sat on his porch out there, br Then you swayed on down to the waters edge: br ‘To get a fresh breath of air.'' br br ‘If only you could have seen yourself, br You looked like a sad man's dream, br While he would twitch on his garden seat br Like a cat that had choked on cream. br I'd call you in, but you wouldn't come br Though I'd watch through the window pane, br And you would titter, and he would laugh br As you wiggled his way again.' br br ‘What makes you fall for these burly men, br Could it be that they're so uncouth? br Their manners say they haven't a brain br So could it be faded youth? br You'll never be twenty-one again, br Nor even remember when, br And if they knew what you'd want to do br They'd hide in the fields and fen.' br br ‘I begged you not to go to the lake br I can't trust you on your own, br The police have got your description now br We'll have to be moving home.
