Sara Fielder - The Bronze Door

Sara Fielder - The Bronze Door

When we were negative three or four br We'd play behind the heavy bronze door br In white linen dresses and silver shoes br Our eyes swirled infinity in blue-green hues br Sunbeams shot out through our skin br While harp and lute softened the din br And there was no such thing as pain br While dreams stayed watered by invisible rain br You'd lead me by your slender hand br To the lake of life, with its daffodil sand br Saying 'Stay awhile and if you please, br We'll share ladyfingers and cucumber tea' br Then down to the water with me in tow, br To the middle of the lake we'd row and row br Where imaginary things chased our innocence br Through thick green fog and wispy mists br And frightened, I would want to leave br Tugging at your pure white linen sleeve br To abandon fate as worry and fear br Made me to think that 'they' were near br But you would never row away br And by the close of the foray br You'd wrapped them in your wings of love br Disarming them like a holy dove br Then soon our make believe would cease br They'd surrender to us in placid peace br And be our friends forevermore br And we'd all live ever happy br Back behind the bronze door br br Written by Sara Fielder © Sept 2012br br Sara Fielderbr br
