Loyd C. Taylor - Ode To A Thief

He is just a common thief, br And now he must pay; br His wicked deeds bring him, br Condemned to die today. br br He had cheated and looted, br Wronged many men; br His wretched life stops today, br A cross shall pay his sin. br br Guilty of his transgression, br Deserving of this bed; br Though he feared not the dying, br But the damnation ahead. br br br br For surely Hell would be his fate, br Fires’ torment soon would start; br Punished for his wickedness, br And such a blackened heart! br br But this ONE dying near him, br Was oh so different than he; br His eyes revealed compassion, br He spoke mercifully. br br The thief cried out from his cross; br “Man just what crime did you do? ” br Then Jesus whispered weakly; br “Today friend, I die for you! ” br br “But, how will You die for me, br Just who are you anyway? ” br “I AM the Lamb of God, br Your sin debt I came to pay.” br “How may I receive pardon? ” br The thief begged repentantly. br “Forgiveness is truly yours br If you simply will believe.” br br “It’s true, you are the Savior, br Given thus to die for me... br Oh LORD I need your mercy, br LAMB of GOD… remember me! ” br br Then Jesus spoke to the thief, br “Mercy has covered your price, br And I now say unto thee… br I’ll meet you in PARADISE! ” br br br Written by L C Taylor March 22,2008br br Loyd C.
