Naseer Ahmed Nasir - * Dreams Lost In Water

No distance ever separates br Dreams and desires br No mirror ever dissolves br Reflection and water br In one's eye br br What graph would you make br Of lines of thought? br The triangle of pain br Is without any angle br br Countless races br Have dreams alike br But sleep and night-watch br Are never the same! br br Names are forgotten br Codes alone come to mind br In nuclear setups br br Dreams of radiant generations br Are smitten br By atomic explosions br Cities sink br Nuclei dissipate br Orbits dwindle br What remains br Are terra and sol br In the dance of death br God is a casualty. br br A moment of brightness br In a light year br Breaking into smithereens br In a million eons br An accident - yes br But not an event br History is continuity br Broken once br Telescopic eyes, tired out, give up br Their distance watching br Lost planets br Bygone epoches br Have no interposition. br br Who will look for br Flowers br In spring-fresh hands br Of tiny tots? br Who will see br Dreams br In eyes-yours and mine br In centuries to be? br No one is sure br Of things lost in water! br br Poem by: Naseer Ahmed Nasir,1980. br Translated from Urdu to English by Dr. Satyapal Anand and from English to Spanish by Dr. Teresinka Pereira.
