Rainer Maria Rilke - The Panther

Rainer Maria Rilke - The Panther

His vision, from the constantly passing bars, br has grown so weary that it cannot hold br anything else. It seems to him there are br a thousand bars; and behind the bars, no world. br br As he paces in cramped circles, over and over, br the movement of his powerful soft strides br is like a ritual dance around a center br in which a mighty will stands paralyzed. br br Only at times, the curtain of the pupils br lifts, quietly--. An image enters in, br rushes down through the tensed, arrested muscles, br plunges into the heart and is gone.
